SpectacleSpectacle by Angie McCullagh
My rating: 1 of 5 stars

I think a younger version of myself may have enjoyed this YA fiction novel better, but anyone who doesn’t care to relive teenage high school angst, self-esteem issues, and cliques may want to steer clear.

I had really wanted Emily’s photography to play a larger role, since that’s why this book appealed to me (reminder to self: don’t judge a book by its cover!), and appreciated how it was incorporated into the epilogue, but the rest of the book was frustratingly plotless. I “got” that it was supposed to be a coming-of-age/coming-into-oneself novel, but it was disappointingly anticlimactic and predictable.
