BEST BOOKS FOR BITTIES
Every once in awhile, I want to throw in here some of the books that I love reading to my kiddos. To kick it off, here’s one of my little guys’ current favorites, our most recent bedtime story…
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Sometimes it may seem like your toddler is part dinosaur… and after a long day of very LOUDLY defeating all of the obstacles thrown at them (a bowl of spaghetti? talking grown ups? bathtime and tooth-brushing?), what is it that finally claims victory over this very enthusiastic dino? Why, bedtime, of course.
My infant and toddler both LOVE this book, from its bright colors to the dinosaur’s “ROAR! ROAR! ROAR!” as it skips from page to page. There’s very few words, so it’s perfect for the little guys that want to “read” independently — my two-year-old can recite the whole thing himself. It’s a great book to let loose and have a bit of fun with!
And what am I reading this week?
The Infects by Sean Boudoin –
I’m having a hard time getting into this one. There’s much more crass and derogatory language than I find acceptable, and I don’t like the characters at this point. The plot seems like it’s trying to be Holes by Louis Sachar, but cruder.
Two and Twenty Dark Tales: Dark Retellings of Mother Goose Rhymes by Nina Berry –
It’s hard to assess anthologies with different authors writing each short story. This one seems to contain stories on both ends of the spectrum — ones I really like, and ones I don’t. There’s also some of the rhymes that I’ve never heard before.
Discovering the Treasures of a Godly Woman by Elizabeth George –
Still reading with our Bible study group…
On my “To Read Next” shelf:
- Intruders by Olive Peart
- Fire by William Esmont
- Out of This World by Douglas E Richards
- Ashenden by Elizabeth Wilhide
