The Nutcracker

Nutcracker The Nutcracker by E.T.A. Hoffmann

4 of 5 stars

A little girl helps her toy nutcracker — who has come to life — fight off the army of the Mouse King.

At that moment, the King of Mice charged the Nutcracker.  Without quite knowing what she was doing, Marie took off her left shoe and flung it with all her might, hoping to hit the Mice King.

This adorable fairy tale is full of holiday magic and wonder.  Not only does it contain a daring, dangerous battle between the toys and the mice, but it also opens a world of whimsy and imagination within a toy castle.  The language is a bit dated, but the story would still be enjoyable for kids and adults alike.

Overall: A whimsical tale of courage and loyalty that can be enjoyed by all ages.
